Blithewold Mansion & Arboretum, Bristol, RI

Aerial of Blithewold Mansion and Arboretum

Blithewold is comprised of a 1908 mansion and several supporting structures on its 33-acre grounds. The historic house and gardens are open to the public and for tours and events. DDS created the first set of as-built drawings in CAD that show interior floor plans of the house. This important document will be used by Blithewold to help direct maintenance efforts in the years ahead and as a base document for a future master plan.

Lincoln School, Providence, RI

View South on Butler Avenue

DDS worked with this private school on the East Side of Providence to design a fence to surround the head of school's home and a portion of the campus. Weihman collaborated with the Buildings & Grounds Committee to meet budgetary and design guidelines, and worked closely with the Facilities Director to respond to practical issues of code and safety.

Rough Point, Newport, RI

Dahlia Garden View

This historic property was owned by renowned heiress and preservationist Doris Duke for over seventy years. It is now part of Newport Restoration Foundation and open to the public for tours of the house and gardens. The landscape was originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, but Duke later added several interesting trees and shrubs as well as formal and vegetable gardens.

Trinity Church, Newport, RI

Trinity Church and Queen Anne Square

This Episcopal church in the heart of Newport was built in phases, between 1726 and 1762. Its burial ground no longer has room to expand, so Madison Spencer Architects designed a columbarium wall to commemorate contemporary church members. Weihman had a role in permitting, materials research and siting for this highly sensitive intervention to one of Newport's most famed historic buildings.
